A New Approach To The Traditional Engagement Photo
When it comes to my photography, my goal is to keep it within the realm of portraiture….more specifically, a style of cinematic portraiture. In the past, this has caused me to turn down a host of gigs - I would turn down a simple engagement shoot unless they were friends, or friends of friends - therefore rendering me a poor, starving, artist.
Problem: sovled. Instead of turning down shoots that aren’t great bands or profiles on “hip” artists, I decided to just start shooting my engagement/wedding clients as if they had been nominated for a Grammy. This has proven to be excellent shooting practice, and in some instances, even a portfolio builder. Do it right, and you can manage a couple looks specific enough to carry the lifestyle card. This, of course, requires a certain type of client who digs that look. In the case of Evan & Jessica, it was a perfect match. Check out what we did downtown LA last week.

strategy! Traditional...pictures often suck, so this is something worth trying.
